Get in: Why a newsletter

In which I explain my reasoning for invading your inbox.

I’m starting a newsletter about jam bands, and I’m calling it Jam Sandwich. Ha!

There, I said it.

That’s the general idea, like, where it started — the seed kinda was planted deep in Phish’s 12/30/18 “Light” jam, which I’ll expand upon later. And it’ll be Phish-centric, as that’s where I’m writing from, but I hope to make it so much more than that.

As anyone who’s grown increasingly obsessed over the years knows, it is all so much bigger than one band. Sure, there’s Trey and Fish and Mike and Page, but there’s also the larger orbit of crew (Kuroda!), their side bands, the artists who make the prints, and most importantly, the live music scene that surrounds us all.

What to expect: We’ll see! I am creating a curated newsletter of cool stuff in the Phish universe and beyond (this includes JRAD, Greensky, and all the other great bands making great music in this fantastic time to be a fan). This means must-read interviews, tour intel, amazing photos, ticket announcements, newly released videos, art print releases, fan merch, and more. Basically, stuff to obsess over when you’re not at a show. We all need more of that!

A bit about me: My name is Brian. I am a journalist by day and live just north of the greatest city to be a phan these days — New York. I spend a lot of time on the internet and, for the most part, see every tweet that mentions Phish (TweetDeck lets you do that — it’s a cool trick). So I’m in a good place to not miss stuff! I like the band a lot and was lucky enough to see the Camden Chalk Dust live. Here are my stats. I wish there were so many more — but that’s where we’re at. I like other bands, too, and I’m constantly searching for new ones.
